What is Africa Careers Network?
Established in 2012 in partnership with The MasterCard Foundation, Africa Careers Network (ACN) connects outstanding young talent from African Leadership Academy (ALA) and The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program to career and internship opportunities across Africa.
The African continent stands at the brink of an era of unprecedented growth and transformation. However, despite positive growth prospects, organisations across Africa struggle to identify and retain top calibre local talent. ACN seeks to facilitate Africa’s economic and social development through Africa’s youth, enabling our network of young leaders to give back to their communities through internships, and to engage with potential employers. We provide organisations with early access to a pipeline of entrepreneurial young leaders with a pan-African outlook. In 2015, ACN placed our students in over 200 internships on the African continent. We managed to place 96% of our 2014 graduates in jobs, graduate school or entrepreneurial ventures. More than two thirds of those placements were on the continent.
|Connecting Young Leaders to Career and Internship Opportunities
Africa Careers Network is critical to the development of young leaders as agents of positive change for Africa. By matching these unusually talented individuals with organisations seeking to strengthen and expand their teams, ACN enables our young leaders to further develop their capabilities by applying their classroom learning and prior experience in addressing real-world challenges and working on projects. Internships also allow our young leaders to explore career options, gain exposure to industry fields, and learn about the inner workings of a wide variety of organisations. Please have a look at our career book to meet some of our 2015 young leaders who have interned with many of our partners and are now seeking full time employment. (Meet Our Graduates)
Within ACN, there are uniquely capable individuals with interests across all industries and focusing on a broad range of career areas including sales & marketing, finance, engineering, operations, health, education and scientific research. ACN believes in professional development as a lifelong process. Young leaders in our network have access to on-going career guidance including an online Learning Centre. They are trained to be entrepreneurial leaders and professionals poised to offer the best talent to employers in Africa. |Benefits to Partner Organisations
With nearly 700 young leaders from over 45 countries, ACN is a hub of Africa’s top talent.
